PHC Group is committed to continuous improvement to provide all employees with a safe and healthy work environment that enables them to perform at their best. We view occupational health and safety as both a corporate responsibility and a foundation of sustainable management, and we are dedicated to maintaining rigorous health and safety management practices. We regularly conduct health and safety risk assessments for employees at all locations, particularly at our manufacturing sites and laboratories, and take appropriate actions based on the findings. Additionally, we carry out regular safety inspections of workplace environments and safety audits or inspections of workplace equipment. These efforts enable us to detect any potential risks to employees early and implement effective countermeasures.
Health and Safety Management Systems in Japan
At our major Group companies in Japan, we regularly conduct health and safety risk assessments for employees and formulate action plans to prepare for potential emergencies. We provide all employees with education and training on potential health and safety risks as well as proper work practices. Additionally, we have established grievance procedures to allow employees to report any potential occupational health or safety concerns.
In addition to conducting equipment safety inspections and providing periodic health checkups for employees in Japan, we are advancing a wide range of initiatives to prevent repetitive strain injuries (RSIs), address stress and mental health concerns, and limit exposure to potentially hazardous substances and noise. In addition, we have implemented measures to ensure the health and safety of part-time employees and contract workers working on our premises. Through these initiatives, PHC Group seeks to provide a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
Health and Safety Governance at PHC Corporation
PHC Corporation conducts annual health and safety risk assessments. In fiscal year 2025, we identified 13,603 potential risk items through our risk assessment process and have put in place occupational accident prevention measures tailored to each risk. In addition, the business conducts checks on compliance with health and safety-related laws and regulations twice a year and internal audits once a year, and works to improve the operational status of health and safety management systems and on-site accident prevention measures. The Health and Safety Committee shares information internally—including the results of stress checks, and facilitates exchange of views between workers and management, striving to ensure that the business’s initiatives reflect the voices of its employees. At the same time, PHC Corporation strives to raise safety awareness among employees through initiatives such as workplace exercises, regular workplace inspections by occupational health experts and health supervisors, activities to improve hazard awareness, and safety education. As a result of these ongoing efforts, PHC Corporation’s lost-time injury frequency rate in fiscal year 2025 was below the industry average.
PHC Corporation has been recognized for eight consecutive years under Japan's Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations Recognition Program (Large Enterprise Category), which honors companies that demonstrate excellent health management.
